Helping Hands Children’s Home

Please consider involvement in the lives of some of Cameroon’s most needy citizens, those children without parents or coming from destitute circumstances without family support. When a child enters Helping Hands Children’s Home (HHCH), that child has not only found a place that will care for his/her physicals needs, that child has been welcomed into a home, where love and care will nurture him/her until completion of high school studies and readiness to enter life as a young adult. This is long-term incarnational ministry into the lives of these precious children. At present, HHCH is limited to 40 children. The impact on the lives of 40 more children will be enormous after the second duplex is constructed.

Floor plan for Duplex #2 at HHCH.

One side of each duplex is situated with a large living room, a “Ma & Pa’s” bedroom, a girl’s bedroom, a boy’s bedroom, (each sleeping 10 on 5 bunk beds), and bathrooms for both.   The other side mirrors this layout, each side of the duplex offering home to 20 kids, with a Cameroonian “Ma & Pa” offering primary care under the supervision of the HHCH ministry director. Additionally, other staff are employed to assist with care of infants, shopping, cooking, assisting with homework, etc. Almost completed as I write this is a newly constructed multi-purpose building that will serve as dinning hall, kitchen, library, office space and more.

The Directors, Jake and Holly Schilinski, have been friends of our family since our arrival in Cameroon many years ago. Both our families of toddlers (now teens) have spent many occasions together. We cheered for Jake and Holly as they moved from our city of Yaounde to Bamenda to begin from ground zero the establishment of this ministry. We’ve enjoyed being a part in small ways and hope to encourage others too toward involvement. We have witnessed first-hand the impact, having watched some of these orphaned children pass from childhood to teenagers and now nearly ready to be on their own, as well educated, well adapted young people who love Jesus and long to serve Him into their futures.

Please make a note stating “My Missionary Marathoner” or “M3”. This will direct your gift to this Duplex #2 of HHCH, and allow for tracking so that we can update and post the progress regularly toward the goal of $40,000.

A word about the Goals at first I contemplated more modest goals; goals easily achievable. But my heart swelled with conviction that I was proceeding timidly, as if I were a man of little faith. Doesn’t Eph 3:20 describe God as “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to the power that is at work within us”?

Helping Hands Children’s Home Duplex #2. $40,000 will pay for materials and labor for the construction of a second duplex on property already owned by HHCH. Visit https://www.facebook.com/winournationsAfrica/for more info about this wonderful ministry that is providing more than just housing and food to needy orphans. HHCH creates a home. Its impact is deep and life changing for each of the 38 kids that reside in Duplex #1. Another 40 kids will find a home in Duplex #2.   Sufficient funds have been raised to initiate construction of the foundation, which is due to begin soon.  As the Lord provides and in His timing a 3rd Duplex is part of the plan, expanding the ministry’s reach to 120 kids.
